Rumour Mill-Jason Scotland for Clarets?

The Sunday papers today suggest Owen Coyle could be interested in bringing hot-shot Swansea City striker, Jason Scotland to Turf Moor in the summer transfer window.

The 30 year old Trinidad & Tobago International signed from St Johnstone for just £25,000 in July 2007 and has scored 53 goals for the Swans in 102 appearances. He has taken the Championship by storm this season in Swansea's promotion year from League 1 scoring 21 goals.

Owen Coyle of course is no stranger to the player having managed him at St Johnstone but he will face tough competition from a number of Premier League clubs in order to sign him.

Fulham are reportedly prepared to offer £2.5 million for the player.Roy Hodgson has been keeping tabs on the player since February and the Cottagers gaffer will well remember Scotland scoring two against Fulham in the FA Cup in January this year.

Middlesbrough have also been linked with a move for the Trinidad & Tobago frontman

If the rumour has any legs whatsover, the chances of Owen Coyle signing the player could be greatly enhanced if we gain promotion to the top flight.

Wow,,the silly season has already started big-time

I think this is purely a case of linking another name to Fulhams interest. Having managed him before, Coyle was the obvious choice.

Destined for Fulham I heard!

£2.5 million would be a big gamble - massive for a club like us - Prem or no Prem! Can't see it myself.

Not a bad player but this is probably a two and two situation. Think Dale has it about right - just more newspaper talk aimed at creating a bit of interest and bumping up the eventual fee for Mo Fayed.

Pity though. If Coyle really does rate him, he's probably not a one season wonder. And presumably members of the Burnley management team have been thinking about the number of black players in our squad too. But they will also be keen not to upset the fantastic current squad atmosphere by bringing in big-money players, regardless of what happens next!

He would not be a bad shout but i doubt we will be splashing cash like that around even if we were to go up!!

I suppose the scenario is Barnsey we could get £4-5 million plus for Eagles and then use £2-3 million of that on Scotland. If we get promoted though, surely the financial implications go out the window and we have some breathing space
