Burnley X-Files: Oster Off!

Welsh International winger, John Oster is one of nine players being released by Crystal Palace. The 30 year old former Clarets player had a brief spell at Turf Moor under Steve Cotterill in 2005 making 15 appearances and scoring one goal.

Oster signed for Reading in August 2005 and made 76 appearances for the Royals, mainly as a squad player before leaving the Madejski Stadium in May 2008 after being released.

After a failed trial at Preston, he joined Crystal Palace in August 2008 and impressed enough for his six month contract to be extended another 18 months.

Oster however no longer appears to be in Neil Warnock's plans and he has been released early. He joins the following players also being released by the Eagles boss:

Paul Ifill, James Scowcroft, Scott Flinders, Carl Fletcher, Ryan Carolan, James Dayton, Jamie Smith and David Wilkinson.

So Oster is now looking for his 10th club. Always felt he was too greedy by half and tried to screw Steve Cotterill for money we didn't have.Cotterill had rescued him from obscurity and given him another chance too but it counted for nothing.
