For the first time since Coventry away at the Ricoh, I will be seeing the lads play live and tomorrow will be making the three-hour trek up North from Cambridgeshire!
I would like to say this was because I was excited about watching the match but to be honest the main attraction for me will be after the match when I will be attending the Clarets Trust Members Meeting in the Foundation to hear what our Chairman, Barry Kilby has to say about our club and its ambitions.
It will be the first time I will have seen Gray, Mahon and Bardsley play live although I did watch the Norwich match on telly!
Still its always exciting seeing new players in a Clarets shirt for the first time! Does anybody else get this buzz? I have had it since I started supporting the Clarets in the 60s as a young lad.
Steve Cotterill will be spoilt for choice in his team selection with everybody, except of course Thomas and Coyne, in the squad fully fit. Both Micah Hyde and John McGreal suffering from recent injuries played 90 minutes of football in a reserve game this week and came through unscathed.
I wonder therefore in particular what selection he will make in the back four. The trouble is Frank Sinclair was arguably Man of the Match against Owls last Saturday and Duff is beginning to make that central role his own and performs much better there than at right back. I suspect Steve will start with a back four of Bardsley, Duff, Sinclair and Harley with McGreal on the bench.
The next question is will Micah Hyde feature in midfield and who will be dropped if he does. Personally I think we dont need to make any changes to the starting line up in defence or midfield but have both Hyde and McGreal on the bench. The line-up has been the same for the last two matches and the team are playing well so I think we should show faith in the players and stick to that selection.
The only change I would make, and I know I keep harping on about it, would be to start Kyle Lafferty in place of Ricketts to give him valuable experience for 2006/7 playing alongside Gray.
So what about Queens Park Rangers? Well they are now safe and in a similar midtable position to us and they have certainly had a strange season with Holloway now apparantly pruning his roses on 'Gardening Leave' whilst wannabe manager, Gary Waddock takes hold of the reins!
Their form has not been too good with no win in 6 games and only four points from a possible 18. They will also be smarting from an embarrassing defeat at home to bottom club, Crewe in their last match.
There could be some radical changes to the team therefore and Santos, Baidoo, Bailey and Donnely could well return.
QPR have two injury concerns. Matthew Rose has a leg injury and is 50-50 for this game whilst Youssof is also doubtful with a back injury.
Their danger men are likely to be Nygaard, Furlong and the unfortuneately named, central defender, Dan Shittu
So there we have it, with nothing to play for other than pride, I hope both teams can manage to at least put together a decent entertaining game but that QPR however do go away quite pointless!
