Ade in the Life-Update from Houston

Dynamo Guy (DG) has provided a further update on how well Ade Akinbiyi is settling in for his new club in the US, Houston Dynamo.

We last heard how delays in sorting out a visa had prevented Ade from making his debut against Colorado Rapids at the Robertson Stadium in Houston earlier this month. This was a blow after DG had set up the ability for Clarets fans to watch the game by tuning into Justin TV.

The good news now is that Ade has finally sorted out all the paperwork and now has the visa firmly in his sweaty mitts! (It is hot out there!)

Dynamo fans saw Ade today for the first time in a friendly last Saturday when the Dynamo reserves played the Laredo Heat of the USL PDL. The Dynamo won 4-0. Ade had the assist on the first goal and was fouled in the box leading to a PK (that`s penalty to us!) which led to another goal. Ade played around 75 minutes (the match was on a practice field without a game clock.)

Akinbiyi seems to have made a reasonable start although did struggle a little. DG himself explains:

"In my opinion, he looked both tentative and tired. I can understand the tired, having arrived in Houston only yesterday (visa in hand, finally.) He has a week of practice with the first team before the next match to work on the tentative part. I would be much happier seeing a level of aggressiveness that matches his size"

DG also met Ade after the match:

"After the match Ade was kind enough to stop for interviews and greet fans. I think he was a bit overwhelmed with the attention to be honest. I personally shook the big man's hand and welcomed him to Houston. Today he was every bit the gentleman and as nice a guy as has been described."

The following picture was taken during an interview with Texian Army TV.

In this picture Ade is presented with a Texian Army scarf. All of his teammates were given a scarf before the season started.

Ade is now scheduled to make his full first team debut for Houston Dynamo against New England Revolution on Sunday 3rd May.

That is of course a big day too for the Clarets with the final game of the season that day against Bristol City: a match we have to win to ensure we reach the play-off stages.

However if we are on a high after the match and celebrating success we might also be keen to then see how well Ade Akinbiyi does in his debut game for Houston Dynamo and thanks to DG we can tune in to Justin TV and watch the game.

The match over there kicks off at 2pm US Central Time or 8pm GMT and you can watch the game by clicking this link:

Many thanks once more to Dynamo Guy for keeping us updated and providing the photographs.

Let's hope we will still be in the mood to watch football after the Bristol Game and tune in later back at the ranch to watch Ade make his debut (hopefully this time)
