Another Year of Alexander the Great

Graham Alexander has today agreed a one-year extension to his contract with the Clarets after verbally giving his approval to Owen Coyle. His current contract expired in the Summer and this new deal will ensure he will remain a Claret until at least the Summer of 2010.

The defender, come holding midfielder has had a great season and despite being 37 has managed to play in all 53 games for the Clarets. Until yesterday, he had started and finished every game but against Derby at Pride Park yesterday he picked up a calf strain and had to be replaced by Michael Duff with nine minutes of normal time remaining.

It is still a remarkable achievement for the 'owd man' however especially since he managed to also fit in the odd game for Scotland. He had looked doubtful to start against Derby yesterday after picking up a hamstring injury and having to withdraw from Scotland's World Cup qualifier against Iceland in the recent International break.

Thankfully though he managed to keep his 100% record of starts for the Clarets

Well done, Graham. Not bad for someone who was in danger of becoming the butt of Clarets fans jokes after some indifferent performances last season and in the early stages of this season. He looks to now be a strong candidate for even being our Player of the Year.
