Scotland defeated Iceland 2-1 at Hampden Park last night in their 2010 World Cup qualifying game but there was no Clarets interest with Graham Alexander having to withdraw after 'feeling his hamstring' during the week.
Hopefully the injury is not too serious. and George Burley didn't select Alexander to play as a precaution but we shall soon know when we see the sixteen selected by Owen Coyle for the Clarets match against Derby County at Pride Park this Saturday.
If Alexander doesn't make it, this will be the first game he has missed all season for the Clarets.
Kevin McDonald however was in the starting eleven for the Scotland Under 21 game against Albania Under 21 in Falkirk. This was the return game in the UEFA Under-21 Championship Qualifying competition with Scotland Under 21 having already defeated the Albanians 1-0 in Elbasan last Saturday.
This time the Scottish youngsters convincingly beat the Albanians 5-2 at the Falkirk Stadium with Kevin McDonald mopping up for the Scots in midfield and putting in a solid performance. He played until the hour mark before being substituted with the game already at 3-0 to the Scots and effectively over.
Speaking of Albania ,Bes Berisha currently on loan to Danish side AC Horsens once more made the starting eleven for the National side playing at the Parken Stadion against Denmark in their 2010 World Cup qualifying match. It was not to be a good night for the Albanians though, their side were convincingly beaten 3-0 by the Danes. Bes though did play for most of the game before being substituted with just five minutes to go.
