Adam Kay on loan Accy Way

The Clarets have reduced their squad size even more today with the news that midfielder Adam Kay has joined Accrington Stanley on loan until the end of the season.

The locally born 19 year old youngster has yet to make his football league debut since turning professional for the Clarets and has not made an appearance this season in the first team. He has however been named three times on the bench in our Cup games including the Chelsea game at Stamford Bridge in the Carling Cup and the two games against QPR in the FA Cup

Owen Coyle told the Official Site:

'We are happy to allow Adam out on loan to Accrington. We have a good relationship with the club and this will hopefully allow Adam to get some first team football as the season comes to a close. We did a similar thing with Jay Rodriguez last season at Stirling and he really benefited from the exposure.'

The Accrington Stanley gaffer John Coleman had this to say about his new loan signing:

'Adam is a promising youngster and we look forward to him joining the squad ahead of Saturday's game. We get on great with Burnley, Owen Coyle is a great friend of the club and we look forward to continuing the relationship going forward in the future.'

Exeter City are the visitors to the Fraser Eagle Stadium this Saturday, one of the nine league games Accy still have to play this season. Currently in 19th spot they look safe from relegation being ten points clear from second from bottom club Grimsby with a game in hand.

Kay though will hopefully now play a part in ensuring then can stay up and finish as high as possible.

The news coupled with Mahon also going out on loan this week to Blackpool, means that we now have six players out on loan with Kay and Mahon joining Kiraly, Jones, Van der Schaaf and Berisha.

This effectively reduces our available squad size to 20 with Russell Anderson of course still recovering from his cruciate ligament injury.

It would be nice if we could see some movement the other way, but loans are looking increasingly unlikely due to the financial situation and that was further echoed this week by Owen Coyle.
