Alan Mahon Looks Set for Blackpool Loan

Blackpool have made an enquiry to take Alan Mahon on loan until the end of the season and the midfielder looks set to link up with our local rivals tomorrow (Monday)

Owen Coyle confirmed this last night on Radio Lancs during his post-match interview following the Clarets 5-0 drubbing of Nottingham Forest

Coyle yesterday also told the Official Site

'Blackpool made an enquiry last Thursday and I had said that due to Alan being limited to first team appearances here, he could go on loan if he wanted.I won't stand in his way because Alan needs to play. He is a terrific professional who I have so much time for and I am trying to do right by him.If Blackpool re-visit that on Monday I would imagine something will be concluded, but nothing will happen until then.'

Another one on the way out, would be nice to see some action the other way, especially if we lose Thompson to injury

We should be used to this with Burnley, people going out and no one coming in!!! But saying that we do have a strong midfield with players fighting for places! If he goes to the Tangerines he will be getting games under his belt

The once dubbed jewel in the crown we keep hearing how small our squad is yet we continue to make it even smaller baffles me?

If Blackpool are taking on his wages ( or part of) - I think thbis is an excellent move. He has only made a small number of squads thie season and therefore his wage hasnt been put to puch use. I assume we will have an instant recall in the loan deal to be actioned if required.

I don't know quite what to make of this. If Burnley are saving his wages then that is a bonus. Mahon also needs and deserves to play on aregular basis so again this is a good move. However I worry about the ever dwindling squad especially with Thommo injured. If we get any more injuries then hopefully he must be on instant recall. Some of our players are realy tired especially Pato who won't get much of a rest with Thommo injured and International games, Elliot, Blake and McCann also are very tired. I would have thought we would need to keep him available because of this. Also does this finally signal Mahon going in the summer, I think it probably does. Pity.

Mahon's occcupancy of the bench has always been a mystery - he is a quality player but seems to have struggled to secure a first team spot under either SC or OC. Its good to offload his wages but surely we need to look at the loan market ourselves...any rumours? Personally, I'd rather we weren't helping the donkey lashers to avoid relegation as I've no wish to visit Gloom-filled Road next year
