Come and Have a Go...

Come and Have a Go...

1) With the cushion between yourselves and Millwall, do you think you can survive relegation?

Maybe three or four weeks ago I wouldn't have had a clue, nobody was winning down near the bottom and we weren't pulling up any trees. Since moving to a new formation though, and bringing in Carson and Bischoff to strengthen the side, as well as Tudgay and Burton transforming in to very good strikers over night, we've looked very good and if we carry on to a similar standard we should be in the Championship next season. Our run-in isn't bad either, with the exception of Reading at home.

2) You have a few loan signings at the moment. Who are they, and what do you make of each one?

Scott Carson - brilliant, won us the points last week, although we deserved the victory overall anyway. Mikkel Bischoff from Man City - also been brilliant. Absolute rock at the back. Yoann Folly from Southampton - I'm not sure quite how he doesn't get in the Saints team, he's a none stop midfield engine who runs from box to box and is just what we need. Hopefully we can try and sign all these players in the summer, although Carson is a bit unlikely we could try and get him a season-long loan.

3) After promotion to the Championship, is this what you were expecting for this season?

Some Owls fans still think we should be in the Premiership, but then again so do a lot of clubs who've been there and done it. Paul Sturrock always said that 4th bottom would be as good an achievement as winning promotion, and although I was dissapointed when he said it, as we went through the season I understood why he said, and have full faith in him. So 4th bottom wouldn't be bad.

4) What is your favourite Burnley V Sheff Wed memory/match?

You have to be joking! The 7-2 drubbing at your place! We were already down,so we went to have a good day out and we certainly got one. I even remember singing to your tune when you scored. Come to think of it we don't have a bad record against you in recent years, especially at your place!

5) Who do you think will be your most dangerous player on Saturday?

I'd have to say Deon Burton. I was shocked when he signed him from the Millers but he's been absolutely fantastic - fit for the Premiership some might say! He's link play with Tudgay has been great, and although he didn't score for us straight away, he now has 3 in 3 and has bags full of confidence at the moment.

6) Which of the Burnley players do you think you will need to look out for?

I noticed you did really well in the loan market recently! Andy Gray will probably be a threat, and of course he played for the Pigs (Sheff U*d) so he is nailed on to score against us!

7) You had a magnificent result at Wolves last time out. Did you see this coming?

In a word - no. We'd been playing really well recently, and we got a cracking win against PNE with surprising ease. It's never straight forward with Wednesday though, so you always expect a let down after a blinding result. I'd have been happy with a point, but we got all three and fully deserved them! The only trouble was that the other three below us all picked up points!

8) After beating Wolves and Preston, do you feel that Burnley are another game you will win? What score?

No disrespect, but if we want to stay up we need to pick up points at home against lower opposition. If we play as well as we have been doing then I can see a win, but I know you've got a good side including some top recent signings so it's not going to be straight forward. You also have a pretty poor away record aswell!

Thanks to Vital Wednesday, we hope for some friendly banter hopefully following our victory on Saturday. We also answered their questions, which you can see at the Vital Sheffield Wednesday page now.

good questions! I had erased that god awful 7-2 from my mind, so thanks for bringing that up :'-(. Would be nice to pay them back for that, and what better way than putting them in relegation trouble? :P. The editor of Sheff was pretty cool though. Especially like the Utd comment.

Man I didnt even know they had Carson on loan until I saw the Wolves game. Jensen's kicking worried me the other night, and we need him to be at his best in games like this. I attended many games in the 7-2 season, I'd rather not think about them. Amazing thing was our defence was awesome the season after. Duff looks classy as a centre half, and I think we will beat them on Saturday. Come and have a go... haha

I think Beast needs Coyne breathing down his neck, he seems to go off the boil too often when hes automatic choice with no competition for his place! On his day though I actually prefer him to Coyne purely because of his presence and intimidating size!

Recently both clubs have had potential good players joining them . I admit that Wednesday is a great club lost in the mist of time . They have huge followers and can acquire other players on the strength of their own . i would go for a draw .

In theory because we are more or less safe and Owls are still fighting for survival, the determination to win may edge it for Wednesday but the Clarets have something to prove after a dismal end to the season during that post-Christmas spell and will want to finish on a high

With Millwall losing though the Owls have increased the difference between 4th and 3rd bottom to six points, thats a big ask of Millwall to catch up with only a handful of games left! Pretty sure now its bye bye to Millwall,Brighton&Crewe!
