Burnley X-Files: Micah Hyde Woking Hard

Former Clarets midfielder Micah Hyde made his debut for Conference side Woking at the weekend in a home game against Burton Albion.

The midfielder, now 34 had been given a trial at Gillingham but failed to secure a contract so instead signed for Woking this month on the 27th February before making his debut one day later.

Micah Hyde was signed by former gaffer, Steve Cotterill from Watford in the summer of 2004. He made 104 appearances for the Clarets, scoring one very memorable goal in the FA Cup replay against local rivals, Blackburn at Ewood Park in the 2004-5 season.

In January 2007, he moved to Peterborough United for an initial fee of 75,000 plus an extra 25,000 if Peterborough were promoted in that season.

He was captain of the Posh side until this season.

His contract was then cancelled by mutual consent in November 2008 after he rejected loan moves to Barnet, Notts County and Stevenage Borough.

Gillingham manager Mark Stimson then took Hyde on trial in December 2008 with a view to signing the player in the January transfer window. The League Two side gaffer though failed to be impressed by Hyde and a contract never materialised. Woking therefore brought the player to the Kingfield Sports Ground.

Hyde will be hoping he can improve Woking's form, the conference side are currently struggling in 20th position of the Blue Square Conference Premier League and are in danger of relegation with other clubs around them including the bottom four having games in hand.

I always liked Micah in the midfield general role. He did towards the end though put in some indifferent performances but good luck to the lad as he gets to the end of his career.Pity he couldn't score more for us but then he will always be remembered for that Blackburn stunner of an equaliser.

You are right - He will always be remembered for THAT goal! He also scored the first goal of the SC era! I too was a fan of Hyde and agree that at the end their were some 'interesting' displays put in. I seem to remember him losing the ball in dangerous positions far to frequently!

Yep, but we started messing about with him didnt we playing him in the back four on occasion and rueing the consequences? He was a liability though towards the end and seemed to lose a bit of confidence

I liked Micah as a player but he didn't score enough when in midfield and I always thought he had the potential for more. Sadly he became very inconsistent but at a time when so did a lot of others. I remember that fans felt quite a buzz when he was signed.
