'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Please Let it Be The Emirates! (Provisional Dates)

Most Clarets fans would prefer a tasty visit to the Emirates in the 5th round of the FA Cup to face Arsenal. The Gunners and Cardiff City have yet to replay their fourth round tie. The snow in the South East ensured the game was postponed this week. The replay will now take place at the Emirates Stadium on Monday, February 16, 2009.

There is now an added incentive for wanting to play the Arsenal rather than the Bluebirds. Should Arsenal be the victors, it would ensure a nice weekend trip to London for the 5th round, rather than a tricky night match in Cardiff.

Should Arsenal defeat Cardiff the 5th Round game at the Emirates would take place on the weekend of Saturday, March 7 or Sunday, March 8th, 2009.

On the other hand, Clarets will have to drag themselves to Ninian Park on the night of Wednesday, February 25, 2009 should the Bluebirds progress to the 5th round.

In many ways, I reckon a match against fellow Championship rivals, Cardiff would be more difficult to win than being underdogs against the high & mighty Arsenal. Let's face it though we fear nobody these days and having beat the Young Gunners in the Carling Cup maybe its time to beat the Owd Wizened Up Howitzers of their first team in the FA Cup!

Capital Punishment-The Sequel? I hope so!!

turfmanphil

GoonerLou
Yes indeedy!!
turfmanphil
tough luck clarets, a cold Ninian Park welcome awaits!
bluebirdshroom
No chance!! lol ;-)

You think Cardiff would be an easier game than Arsenal? Arsenal at the Emirates is a totally different prospect to Arsenal at Turf Moor. Cardiff were very ordinary in the second half of their FA cup game with Arsenal.

I said I thought Cardiff would be a more difficult game and without the fun of going to London & a new stadium for a lot of us. I would love to play Arsenal at the Emirates, just a great day out no matter what the score
turfmanphil
Are you then suggesting Arsenal were well above ordinary in the 2nd half of their 0-0 draw at Ninian park ??
Bernie Lee
Whoever we play will be difficult. Only a fool would say Cardiff away would be easy whilst making the same statement about Arsenal at The Emirates would equally be at variance with the facts. We're due to play Cardiff in the league anyway at Easter so I suspect it is just a question of variety and, for most, a slightly easier journey...though Cardiff and South West Clarets may disagree !

Be it Arsenal or Cardiff we know that on our day we have shown we can beat anybody and we are a credit to all non premiership teams

I'd prefer The Emirates on Sunday - it would be a) my birthday b) a new ground for me! (Also, could see if Aldershot are at home on the Saturday and maybe tick that box too!?)

Bad news - The Shots are away at Bradford on 7/3/09. The EBB Stadium at the Recreation Ground ( ! ) is quite a nice little stadium though and I've seen The Clarets there. April '91 - won 2-1 thanks, I think, to a Roger Eli brace. I took my then new girlfriend and we're still together some 18 years later. Though she hasn't been to a game since. Strange that.

Lol Rickers well remembered ah thats just women for you they like to think they are interested ;-)

It'll be great for you lot to come down to Ashburton Grove, but it will be a completely different experience to when we went to the Turf. Not only will you be playing at the Emirates, where we are more comfortable, but you will also be playing our first team not the Carling Cup team. And remember this is the one competition we have a chance of winning this year ;)

Aye I know that GK but 'It's a Funny Owd game' ;-)

How many tickets could we expect to get for Emirates?
Claretdale
Hopefully about 20 each - perhaps some Spurs fans might become honorary Clarets for 90 ( or 180+ ?? ) minutes.
