Clarets Deadline Day Latest

VITAL Burnley and Todmorden News' Martyn Robinson keeps an eye on the transfer market on deadline day for Premier League and Football League clubs.

09:55 - Todmorden News understands that Owen Coyle has failed in a loan bid to sign Celtic defender Darren O'Dea. Gordon Strachen is thought to have said that the player will feature in the coming weeks and so can't afford to let him go at this moment in time.

10:40 - Dutch midfielder Remco Van Der Schaaf, who has made only one appearance for Burnley, is thought to be close to a loan deal with Danish outfit Brondby.

11:17 - Rumours surfice that Burnley are interested in taking Sunderland striker David Healy on loan with Chris Eagles going in the other direction for £3 million.

11:55 - Striker Steve Jones extends loan deal with Coca-Cola League Two outfit Bradford City until the end of the season.

12:30 - News emerges that Irish midfielder Chris McCann is interesting Stoke City, who are keen to talk to the youngster.

12:47 - Sources inform Todmorden News that Owen Coyle is in talks with Stoke City manager Tony Pulis over the availability of Chris McCann, but the Midlands club do not agree with the Clarets' evaluation of the player.

13:25 - Todmorden News understand that Burnley reject a bid of around £2.5million from Sunderland for midfielder Chris Eagles.

14:30 - The Premier League announced that it will grant applications from clubs to complete transactions after the 5pm deadline provided that: 1. The board receives email confirmation from the two clubs involved that a deal has been agreed in principle; and 2. The club signing the player can satisfy the board that the prevailing weather conditions have prevented the signing from being completed by the 5pm deadline.

15:49 - Remco van der Schaaf agrees to a loan deal with Brondby which will run until the end of the season, the deal looks set to be completed within the next 30minutes.

16:01 - We understand that Stoke pull out of the race to sign Chris McCann after failing to agree a fee, but there has been rebuffed interest from a second unnamed interested Premier League side.

Adverse weather means an unexpected early finish from work and a choice between Hetty Wainthropp Investigates or keeping an eye on transfer news. Looks like Hetty has to take a back seat this time ! Lots of rumours abounding and the Eagles to Sunderland one worries me a touch. Bid rejected seems to suggest ' player for sale at the right price ' to me. Hope Eagles is a Claret this time tomorrow.

Just been informed by our source that Stoke have pulled out of negotiations for McCann, but it is yet to be confirmed. Another side is still in talks with Burnley though.

For heavens sake, if Remco is fit to play, why the hell are we hiving him off out on loan? At the moment we now have just 21 fit and available players including the young guns. Crazy!
