Defoe in the Clear Say Football League

The Football League have made a statement on their Official Site confirming Jermain Defoe was eligible to play in the Carling Cup semi-final leg.

The statement reads:

'Contrary to newspaper reports, The Football League can confirm that Tottenham Hotspur player Jermaine Defoe was eligible to play in last Wednesday's Semi-Final against Burnley.Defoe had not already appeared in this season's competition having only been a non-playing substitute in Portsmouth's match with Chelsea. Additionally, there are no rules preventing a player no registered in time for the First Leg from Playing in the Second Leg.Tottenham Hotspur will play Manchester United in the Final at Wembley on Sunday 1st March.'

No comment except you would think they could spell Jermain's name right wouldn't you?

As a spurs fan I have to say that reading rule this morning it seemed clear we had broken the rules.I fearded the worst tbh. Hand on heart you desevred to go through and were the better team over the two legs.
