This Friday night we entertain Norwich at Turf Moor in what is becoming a must win game to steady the nerves of the Clarets faithful
This match was rescheduled from Saturday to Friday night some time back as Sky TV indicated their interest in televising the match. Not quite sure whether this match would still have attracted Sky had they known the current situation for both clubs, especially our fall from grace from 5th to 18th in the table in under 3 months. Norwich of course are still within a chance albeit slim of reaching the play-offs, so no doubt all the pundit commentary tonight will be about Norwich with the usual passing sentence about our lads!
Well surely its time for the Clarets fans to at least see a goal from the lads at Turf Moor.Lets hope three points will also be coming our way after a disastrous run making sure we have had to keep one eye over our shoulder at the three bottom clubs!
We just need to get that first goal in my opinion for confidence to return to the team. Hopefully our new boy, Andy Gray can get on the score sheet. I would really fancy our chances of winning this match if we get our noses in front first.
The last time I saw these two teams play was in a bitterly cold, snow driven Carrow Road just after Christmas. It was a poor game for the Clarets and thinking about it, this could have been the match where you could see the writing on the wall as we lost comprehensively by 2 goals to 1 with Huckerby making mincemeat of the defence with Duff sadly living up to his name!
Huckerby is the danger man to watch and we need to snuff out Earnshaw too!
Norwich forward Paul McVeigh remains the side's only new injury concern and is one of the Canary fans favourites.
McVeigh has not trained this week because of a back injury and Jonaton Johansson or Ian Henderson could fill in should he fail to recover in time.
Burnley duo Frank Sinclair and John McGreal are both hoping to overcome calf injuries to play.
Midfielder Micah Hyde (knee) remains a doubt, while defender Wayne Thomas (foot) and keeper Danny Coyne (knee) will not play again this season.
The team selection for the Clarets will be an interesting one with one new face just beating the loan deadline today as Alan Mahon [pictured here] signed from Wigan. He is classed now as a midfielder but made his name as a left winger and has a bit of a lethal left foot! It will be interesting to see if he plays in this match and if so in what position.
One person we wont be seeing for the rest of the season and indeed we may never see him again in a Clarets shirt is Gifton Noel-Williams. He completed a loan to Brighton today. So an extra place on the bench for someone there! I feel sorry for Gifton, something was clearly not working for him and the crowd lost their patience with him many moons ago. I wish the lad well and hope he recovers his form with Brighton
So there we are then, I wont be making the three hour drive up the A1/M62 from Cambridgeshire to watch this match and will satisfy myself with a few tinnies watching it on the box in my comfy slippers! Three points and we can all relax! Come on lads!
