No stopping us now, with yet another signing.A player with connections to both Blackburn Rovers and Wigan!
Alan Mahon,27 has joined the Clarets on loan until the end of the season from Wigan Athletic. A £200,000 permanent transfer will then be completed with the player signing a three year contract.
Clarets boss Steve Cotterill said: "We managed to sort out a deal with Wigan to take Alan Mahon until the end of the season, with an agreed permanent deal going ahead at the end of the season'
Steve also compliments our old friend, Paul Jewell!
"I'd like to thank Paul Jewell for all his help with that. We've had a couple of good chats this week and I'd like to thank him very much for his help in assisting the transfer to go through pretty quickly."
Mahon, born in Dublin and a former Republic of Ireland player signed for Wigan in February 2004 from Blackburn Rovers. His previous clubs were Tranmere Rovers and Sporting Lisbon. He made his debut for Blackburn against the Clarets as a substitute in the Lancashire derby and helped them to win promotion to the Premiership before signing permanently in a £1.5 million move to Ewood Park.He also then had loan spells in the Championship with both Ipswich Town and Cardiff City before he joined Wigan. He made 56 appearances for Paul Jewell's side, scoring 10 goals.
Mahon was moved by Wigan from the left wing to an attacking role in the centre of midfield and has a lethal left shot. It will be interesting to see the role Steve Cotterill has in mind for the Irishman.
Welcome aboard Alan!
