Rumour Mill-Bradley Orr Not?

Rumour Mill-Bradley Orr Not?

The Clarets want to sign Bristol City's right-back Bradley Orr according to media reports this morning.

The defender is understood to be keen to move back to Lancashire.

Orr is quite a versatile player and has played in the centre of defence as well as at right back. Bristol City actually signed the player as a central midfielder and converted him to right back during 2005/6

Bristol City transfer listed the player in November this year after they couldn't agree new terms and he becomes a free agent in the summer. Clarets fans were surprised to see him selected for their game against Burnley recently at Ashton Gate after an injury and suspension crisis forced the club's hands.

Orr is no stranger to Turf Moor having spent a loan spell with the club under Stan Ternent. He played just four games for the club after joining on loan from Newcastle United in 2004.

The 26 year old Liverpool-born player started his career at Everton in 2000 and came through their youth team before joining Newcastle in 2002.

He was given a free transfer and joined Bristol City in July 2004.

Interesting link. Could be ideal for the Clarets based on our defensive needs and his versatility

Interestingly Orr also played in their Boxing Day win at Watford. Wonder if they are having second thoughts? Robins gaffer,Johnson told BBC Radio Bristol before Christmas: "He's a professional, I'm a professional and we have to do it properly. "I'm discussing with him each day what my plans are and why I'm either playing him or leaving him out' Johnson was also unsure whether Orr would feature against Watford on Boxing Day. "It's too soon to say. I'll make a decision on that if and when I need to," Johnson said. Well he did, so wonder if Orr is still in their plans and the club want to have another go at the contract

It would be a good signing for you. He has played recently because of injury problems throughout our defence. He has played in central defence too but likes to get forward. His distribution is not the best and he sometimes tries to be too clever and loses the ball in dangerous areas. He spent time in prison for his involvement in a night club brawl, but has since "found God". He has been a fans favourite and talks a good game, good for the dressing room as is any scouser. Almost scored yesterday forcing Speroni into a full length save. I'd wish him well if he left but blame his agent for unreasonable wage demands - he isn't as good as he thinks he is, but a solid Championship player. I think he will be joining you. Makes a change for you buying and not selling in January?

Interesting comments CJ, thanks for your input. Is there any gossip locally that he could be joining us other than the rumours put about by the Sunday People?

It would be an interesting signing - He seems to have done reasonably well in the last season or two.
