'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Cotterill Derails Job at Crewe

It was widely reported in the media yesterday that the Crewe board were about to offer their vacant manager's role to former Clarets gaffer,Steve Cotterill.

Their previous manager,Steve Holland left the struggling club last month with Crewe stalwart, Dario Gradi stepping in as temporary coach.

Steve Cotterill though has since told Skysports.com that the rumour was 'wide of the mark' and that he had not applied for the job and that he would not be doing so:

'I wish them all the best in their search, but it is not something I would be interested in. I think this is just gossip you get in football and you can't do anything about it.'

Cotterill has now been out of management since departing Turf Moor in November 2007 and has recently stated his desire to return to football. Clearly though he has his standards and wont be rushing back into management for the sake of it.

Crewe currently bottom of League 1, eight points adrift already from safety will clearly have to look elsewhere.

Obviously not desperate to get back into management. Dont suppose he is in the Blackburn frame but that would be interesting!!
