Rumour Mill-David Edgar

Burnley and Norwich City have been linked with a loan move for Newcastle United centre back David Edgar.

The loan deadline is this Thursday

Edgar is reported to have told the local Newcastle paper,the Evening Chronicle:

"We`re waiting to see in the next couple of days.

"The deadline is coming up and we`ll see what happens.

"It would be a good experience.

"I have always wanted to do it and I need to do it for my development right now."

The 6ft 2 21 year old was born in Kitchener, Canada and was offered a scholarship at the Newcastle United academy at the age of 14.

He accepted and left Canada moving into his grandmother's home in Hebburn, Tyne and Wear.

Edgar made his first team debut for Newcastle against Bolton Wanderers on the 26th December 2006 and on the 5th May 2007 signed a new contract with Newcastle that will keep him at the club until 2009.

He has played for both the Canadian U17 and U20 International team and captained the U20 side.He is also captain of Newcastle's second string team

Are you sure it's not Edgar Davids?! ;-) On a more serious, weird note, a best mate of mine lived in Kitchener for a while after emigrating there via Ohio - small world?!

Oh bum,not going to happen lads!! Coyle said on the Official Site: 'Due to finances there will be nobody coming in. Like other managers you would love to freshen up the squad, but circumstances are circumstances, so we get on with things and do the very best we can.'
