Cary on Clarets!

The Clarets have signed a formal partnership with a US football club they played during their summer tour of the States this year. You may remember the club spent a number of days at the WakeMed Soccer Park, in Cary, North Carolina home of the USL side,Carolina Railhawks evaluating and using their facilities and playing the American PDL (Premier Development League) side,Cary RailHawks U23`s. We played and lost to the side in the first match of the US Tour but clearly Owen Coyle and the Burnley board were impressed with the facilities on offer and the prospects for a good relationship.

The deal is with the Cary RailHawks U23`s side and the team will now be re-branded to reflect their partnership with Burnley FC.

They will now be known as Cary Clarets.

As part of the initial two year deal, Burnley FC will now provide full support to the Cary Clarets and will help establish the Cary brand. They will also work together on training methods and youth development. The US club will help develop Academy-based and first team players for Burnley.

Burnley FC Operational Director Mr Brendan Flood said of the deal:

"We are delighted to welcome Cary as a club partner.

"The seeds of this burgeoning relationship were sown last summer and there is no doubt that Cary has an exceptional college set-up in the United States that we can hopefully tap into.

"The standard of players their Academy produces is high and we hope that working with Cary we can help both organisations to prosper."

All sounds very exciting and Clarets fans will have to see how this develops and which players eventually arrive from the US. An American drawl in the corridors of Turf Moor could make a welcome change to Scottish!!

We shall have to get a few of our US Cary chums back again to comment on the deal

Finally. They looked a good talented side in the friendly, so hopefully we can find some good players. Their training facilities appear to be top notch too.
