Drogba the Bad!

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has pleaded guilty to the charge of violent conduct made by the Football Association.

He was caught on camera throwing a coin into the crowd of Clarets fans in last Wednesday's Carling Cup tie with Burnley just after putting The Blues ahead 1-0..

The Ivory Coast striker could now face a suspension despite making an immediate apology after the game following the Clarets sensational victory.

There is a precedent set here when in 2002 Jamie Carragher was handed a three-match ban after being red-carded for a similar offence.

Both clubs have also received letters from the FA and the matter is subject to police investigation including sadly not just Drogba's part in the incident.

At a time when the Clarets should have been celebrating their finest moment in many a season and getting positive media attention, a section of the Clarets contingent appear to have spoilt that by their stupidity.

I refuse to call these idiots fans after the culprits allegedly threw various missiles including coins onto the pitch bringing the game into disrepute and doing nothing to enhance the image of Burnley.

Media attention has been focussed far too much in my opinion on the Drogba incident and it was difficult to find positive discussion surrounding our victory in last weeks media reports amongst all the negative Drogba stories.

Although of course you can't condone this action from a segment of the Clarets following you can certainly also question Drogba's motives in trying to wind-up the Clarets after scoring even before he decided to make matters far worse.

Anyway let's hope all this blows over and the proper fans can get on with celebrating what seems to be so far our most successful season for sometime.
