Youth Team to Face Baggies in FA Youth Cup

The Clarets youth team have been drawn at home to West Bromwich Albion in the third round of the FA Youth Cup.

The Clarets young guns have won all 11 league and cup games this season so far and will be up for this game. They will play the tie sometime before the deadline of Saturday 13 December.

Irish eyes are smiling for Duff & Paterson

Clarets pair Martin Paterson and Michael Duff have both received international call-ups for Northern Ireland for the Challenge Match at home to Hungary on November 19.

No Bye Bye for Akinbiyi?

Ade Akinbiyi, now 34 has recently been linked with loan moves to Cardiff City and Doncaster Rovers fuelling speculation that he could be leaving the club permanently in the final year of his contract.

He has struggled in recent times this season to even make the sixteen with fellow striker, Jay Rodriguez beginning to make inroads and now appearing to be an automatic selection on the bench.

Clarets gaffer Owen Coyle however still believes Ade has a role to play at Turf Moor.

'A couple of things have come up loan wise, but nothing that I think would make Ade sit up and take notice,' said Coyle on the club's official website.

'Each and every day he's giving everything he can, and he's very much part of my plans.

'At the end of the day, we can only pick 11, and 16 from there. But there's Ade, Alan Mahon, they're training and working their socks off, and that in turn helps the ones in front of them, because that competition is keeping them on their toes.

'We chat all the time, and he knows that if there's ever a point he's feeling down about anything, he can come to me, and all my players know that.

'I like to think I'm very hands-on with them, and if they've got a problem, I'm not saying I can help all the time, but I certainly listen and take it on board.'

News from the Burnley X-Files

Three former Clarets have been in the news recently.

Andrew Cole has left Nottingham Forest by mutual consent and has been linked with a striker coaching role at Blackburn Rovers linking up with his former Manchester United team mate and now Rovers gaffer, Paul Ince.

Gifton Noel-Williams just cant seem to settle after leaving the Clarets.Noel-Williams joined Real Murcia for a fee of around £50,000, signing an 18-month deal in January 2007. After Real Murcia were promoted to La Liga, Noel-Williams was transferred to Elche CF in the Segunda División. After a disappointing season scoring only 4 goals in 21 games, he was informed by Elche's sporting director, Jesús de Huerta, that the club would not be renewing his contract. Millwall signed the player on a short-term contract in the close season this summer and already he is on the move again

Yeovil have now signed the striker on a one-month loan this week from their League One rivals.

Micah Hyde left the Clarets and joined Peterborough United in January 2007.The experienced midfielder has however made just five league starts so far this season and has now been placed on the transfer list being surplus to Posh's requirements. Director of Football, Barry Fry told the club website:

'Micah's name has been circulated and maybe something will happen in the January window.

'We have an excellent squad and we are strong in that area of the pitch'.

This will be disappointing news for Micah bearing in mind he was the club captain in the summer.

All of those ex-players moving come as a slight shock to be honest but none of them would get a place in the current Clarets squad, that I am sure!
