TODMORDEN News' journalist Martyn Robinson brings you his thought and opinions ahead of this weekends trip to Nottingham Forest for Burnley and Owen Coyle.
Well, it feels like an absolute age since I last brought you this excellent feature, that is Robbo's View! Looking back, I haven't wrote this since August when I slated the club for the turnstile shambles against Inverness at Turf Moor in Pre-Season.
Was anything done about it? No. Well done Burnley Football Club, pat on the back and a paper hat is on it's way to you! Anyway, it's no time to dwell on the past, the season is now in full flow, and after a very disapointing league start, the Clarets travel to the Midlands on Saturday afternoon to face Nottingham Forest.
I have said since the kick off in Sheffield on August 9, that Martin Paterson was a fantastic player, but needed someone to play with. Ade Akinbiyi maybe? Young Jay Rodriguez? But I always thought we need someone new.
So when we announced Steven Thompson I was delighted as I think he and Pato together up top will be a fantastic pairing, the big and little combination, but also Thompson can score goals! We;ve seen it for Rangers and we certainly saw it for Cardiff when he scored two in two minutes against us on his debut!
Before I move on to what is happening in the rest of the footballing world, I would like to say... OWEN COYLE'S CLARET AND BLUE ARMYYY! The clowns saying to sack him, SHUT UP! I know its your opinion in wanting him gone, but in this case your opinion is wrong. Who says? I do thats who. He has done a fantastic job so far, and I agree he did get a few decisions wrong, but compared to Cotterill he is the next Alex Ferguson.
The new Middle East-lands
I am sure that you have all seen the news that Premier League side Manchester City have been purchased by an Arab company, who just happen to have a little bit of back pocket change against they're name. One trillion pounds to be quite honist, but thats nothing! So what if he could buy every Championship, League One and League Two side with that? He's helping English football... right?
Wrong! It's doing completely the opposite. Although this little joker thinks that he is doing something right, he really isn't, he is just one of a growing number of men that have goals of coming to England to ruin our game! Now he has his foot well and truely in the door, there will be no end to it. His brothers, sisters, cousins, aunties and uncles will all become involved in a team that they have probably never heard of before and it will be footballs downfall in this country, mark my words.
There are only three leagues in the English football league that I really have time for now. The Coca-Cola Championship, League One and League Two. The Premiership is ruined and will soon be beyond repair and it is a damn shame that the league that has took all these years to build up, is dying!
The big teams are getting bigger and the smaller teams have no chance in modern day football! Get these clowns out of our game as soon as possible.
Disagree? Agree? Let us know in the comment box below!
Setanta Sports
Officially the biggest IDIOTS to run a television channel! People have always said that they want people to be petriotic and support England, after all it is their country!
BBC showed England, everyone could watch, fantastic, interest in the national team was sky high because everybody could watch. SkySports got in on the action, so only SkySports subscribers could watch, as it is included in the Sky package for a few extra quid which is nothing to an avid sports fan, after all, look at all that is on offer!
But then Setanta get in on the act, £9.99 a month? For what? A few England matches and Premier League games. They are simply runing interest in our national team and fleecing fans and it really doesn't make me happy. You will never be a big channel, so stop trying to act like you are one Setanta!
And to top it off they want over the odds for other channels to show the highlights, it took ITV nearly a month to persuade them into showing the highlights from the Croatia game. Well done you idiots.
Well thats it for this week. Robbo's View will be back soon. It's like marmite, you love it or you hate it! We all know you will be clicking on this feature again next time you see it though don't we ;)
