Clarets at home in the third round.

Clarets at home in the third round.

The Clarets have been handed a second home draw in the Carling Cup, but this time face Premiership opposition Fulham.

A tie that is probably not very appealing to either set of fans. Burnley fans would have been hoping for a game against one of the big 4 in the Premiership, a home draw against a lower league Club or perhaps a game against Blackburn. Fulham fans on the other hand were probably hoping for a club like us struggling in the Championship, but would have wanted a home tie.

We are awaiting the date of the match to be confirmed and ticket information to be announced, but will bring that news to you as soon as possible.

A few all Premiership ties have been drawn along with a crunch game in the South of Wales, so there is a good choice of games for which to be televised and the Clarets game will more than likely not be considered.

We have a good record against Fulham, but on the evidence of that absolutely woeful performance yesterday against Plymouth, I just cant see where the goals are going to come from unless we get some strikers in before Sept 1 window closes.
