Rumour Mill-Russell Anderson

According to media speculation, Burnley and Leeds United are favourites to land the Sunderland international defender, Russell Anderson before the transfer window deadline.

He had been linked to a return to Aberdeen but reports suggests he would prefer to remain in England.

Anderson joined his local club, Aberdeen in 1996, becoming their captain before signing for Sunderland in June 2007 for £1 million.

He joined Plymouth on a loan until the end of last season in February 2008 and appears to now be surplus to requirements.

Born and bred in Aberdeen, the 29 year old is a Scottish International with 11 caps to his name so far.

Yet another defender linked to the Clarets! Been a busy day for speculation so far as the transfer window closure gets ever nearer. Hope if this one if true that Anderson at 29 has the necessary pace we badly need in the back four

Yep, as long as he has some pace. That's about all we need.
