Rumour Mill-Dean Leacock

Rumour Mill-Dean Leacock

It is reported in the press this morning that the Clarets will offer Derby £500,000 for defender Dean Leacock.

The 24 year old started his career with Fulham and after two loan spells with Coventry City joined Derby County in August 2006 for £375,000.

He plays primarily at centre back but can also play at right back although is currently being used as a defensive midfielder.

The rumour reported in the Daily Star also suggests that we face competition from local rivals, Preston. Why is it always them?

Well maybe the press have picked up we need defenders and are making up their own stories but then again maybe there is an element of truth. Certainly out of the blue this one

You 'ickle liar, mr Coyle souynds like he was interested after all: As far as former Fulham defender Leacock is concerned, the retirement of Coyle's former Bolton teammate Alan Stubbs at Pride Park would appear to have scuppered the possibility of a potential move, with Preston and Coventry also linked with the 24-year-old: "Leacock is a very good player, but I think with Stubbsy retiring, I would think that would curtail any interest anybody has in him, whether we were in for him or not. "But you're never off that phone, and we'll see what comes of it." Source: Burnley Express

Very surprised by this. Clutching at straws or desperation by OC.
