Burnley X-Files: Gifton Baku to Work?

Former Clarets striker Gifton Noel-Williams, 28, will end a two-year spell in Spain to join Azerbaijan outfit Neftchi Baku according to various reports in the press this morning.

The former Watford and Stoke City player joined Burnley on a free transfer in June 2005 during Steve Cotterill's reign.

He struggled though and failed to impress enough Clarets fans who turned against him.

He played 56 times for the Clarets scoring just 7 goals. He did however score his first ever professional hat-trick in Burnley's 4-2 home victory over Barnsley in a most memorable night match during his time at Turf Moor.

Noel-Williams joined Real Murcia for a fee of around £50,000 in January 2007, signing an 18-month deal. Following Real Murcia's promotion to La Liga Noel-Williams was transferred to Spanish side, Elche CF
