Rumour Mill-Alex Bruce

Burnley and Leeds are reported to be interested in signing Ipswich Town central defender Alex Bruce.

It is widely known that the Clarets need to bolster their defence so there could be some truth in this rumour.

The 23-year-old appears to now be out of favour with Ipswich gaffer Jim Magilton after being a regular since signing for the club in the summer of 2006 from Birmingham City on a free transfer.

He signed a three year contract until 2009 and was in fact Magilton's first signing as the new manager.

Bruce only this week was called up to the full Republic of Ireland squad. Alex Bruce came from the Manchester United Academy but started his professional career as a trainee with Blackburn Rovers.

However he never played a game for the club making his professional first team debut for Oldham during his first of two loan spells there. His father, Steve Bruce, now manager of Wigan, signed him on a free transfer for Birmingham City in January 2005 but the taunts of nepotism probably hindered his progress and he found himself more often than not on loan with spells at Oldham, Sheffield Wednesday and Tranmere.

Is he any good though? Could do with other fans opinions on him really. I've seen his odd game on tv, but can't remember much.

Jim is a w****r, and the only reason Bruce isn't in the team is because of that dumb ass manager. Bruce is our best defender.... by miles.... hands off!!!
