Ball Gets Management Shot

Former Claret Kevin Ball has taken over the reigns of Sunderland temporarily, following the sacking of Mick McCarthy today.

The Black Cats have had a disastrous campaign so far, picking up just ten points from 28 Premiership matches, currently a massive 16 points from safety.

Ball, who captained the side under Peter Reid will take charge for the last ten Premiership matches this season, and a permanent manager will be appointed in the summer.

Mackems Chairman Bob Murray has urged the fans to get behind Kevin Ball: 'We have appointed Kevin Ball caretaker manager until the end of the season and hope that supporters will give him their full backing,' said Murray.

'Kevin has always felt passionately about Sunderland and is a true professional. His grit, determination and leadership qualities have always been greatly appreciated by Sunderland fans and the club.'

Vital Burnley would like to wish Kevin the best of luck, and hope he can prove to be a success in his short period in charge of Sunderland.
