Burnley X-Files: Oster goes to Palace
Former Clarets winger John Oster has today signed for Crystal Palace on a six-month contract.
The Welsh international joins the Eagles on a free Bosman transfer after being released by Reading.
'John gives us that little bit of experience especially away from home,' Eagles boss Neil Warnock told the club's website.
Oster, 30 recently turned down a contract at Derby County after a trial at Pride Park.
He started his career with Grimsby Town in 1994 before moving to Everton for £1.5 million in 1997. He was on the move again two years later joining Sunderland in a £1 million deal. He never really impressed for the Black Cats spending periods on loan to Barnsley, Grimsby his former club and Leeds United. Sunderland released Oster in January 2005.
Oster was signed by Burnley during Steve Cotterill's reign in 2005, but the spell was brief and he joined Reading on 2 August 2005.
