Cotterill Role for Minnesota Thunder

Former Clarets gaffer Steve Cotterill is moving to the USA after securing a seven-week stint as boss of Minnesota Thunder.

This was confirmed in the Daily Mail this week.

Cotterill has already flown out and will be given the temporary role of technical director and head coach of the side that play in the USL, America's second tier of football.

'They want me to appraise the playing staff and youth set-up and get the team moving again.' said Cotterill.

The interesting co-incidence (or is it?) of this deal is that Burnley are looking for a partnership with a US club and Minnesota Thunder were one team they have been talking to. The Clarets also played them recently in the second game of their US Tour.

Should Cotterill's contract be extended to a more permanent role and should the Clarets sign the partnership deal with Thunder, we will have the interesting situation of a former gaffer working with our current gaffer.

Ooh er,interesting development this one! Have the club been putting in a good word or two about our former gaffer in their chat with Thunder or is it just co-incidence?
