Saga Number 2 Completed!
SAGA number two was dramatically concluded this afternoon (Tuesday) as Manchester United midfielder Chris Eagles put pen to paper on a three-year contract at Turf Moor.
This summer seems to have more long running transfer sagas than ever before, and thankfully another one has been concluded as Eagles officially signed for the Clarets after enjoying a Pre-Season tour of South Africa and Nigeria with United, where he scored two goals.
Sky Sports news revealed this afternoon that Burnley would be holding a Press Conference at 4pm, and as 4 o'clock came and went with no news breaking from the Turf, a few people started to get a bit on edge and eager to find out the news.
On Monday evening news started to filter through that Eagles would be joining the Clarets in a deal thought to be around £1.25million in the next 48 hours, before the press started to jump on the story.
But the Eagles link came a while back and has been an off-on transfer in the media, with a national tabloid claiming that he would sign some three weeks ago claiming he was pulled off the plane to South Aferica to sign for Burnley. And low and behold, 10 hours later we saw Eagles arriving... in South Africa.
He then went on to start nearly every Pre-Season game out on the tour and scored twice including a goal against Premiership side Portsmouth in his last appearance for the Old Trafford club as he signed off in style.
So that is another saga coming to an end and can join the Kyle Lafferty debate in the file cabinet, but is there going to be another signing at the Turf in the next 24 hours?
