The Return of Remco

Clarets fans may have been concerned that our new signing, Remco van der Schaaf has been sidelined in recent weeks and has only managed to feature in one pre-season friendly so far.

He played from the start of the second half in our first pre-season friendly against Cary U23 during the US tour but has not even been named on the bench in the four friendies that have followed to date.

The 29 year old former PSV Eindhoven and Vitesse player has missed out on the Minnesota Thunder game in the US and the three Scottish Tour matches against Queen of the South, Partick Thistle and St. Johnstone.

It is now known that the Dutch midfielder has not played in these games due to a thigh problem.

However, speaking to the Official Site, Owen Coyle has some good news for Clarets fans concerning Remco as he prepares his side for the Clarets next pre-season clash against Accrington Stanley at the Fraser-Eagle Stadium this Saturday.

'Remco certainly won't play the 90 minutes, but he might get an hour, which is great.

'He has been working hard and when we brought him to the club he came with a tremendous pedigree, so it will be good to get him on the pitch again'

Our now traditional annual friendly against the lads from Accy will kick off at 3pm tomorrow. From the US to Scotland to Accrington, you couldnt write a better story!

Good news about Remco. Wonder what our midfield will look like in our first match of the season against Owls? Gudjonsson looks to be playing well too and we seem to have many options in the midfield department at the moment. Will be even more complicated if we get Eagles or another winger as well

Sounds like he was quite effective yesterday against Accy playing just in front of the back four in a holding role
