Will Eagles play Kaizer Chiefs?-The Latest

The title has nothing to do with pop music but a reference to Chris Eagles, who appears to have been selected for the Red Devils, South African tour.

United flew to South Africa on Thursday afternoon this week.

Sir Alex Ferguson has selected a 21-man squad for the pre-season trip, including it would appear Chris Eagles.

The Reds will soon be in Cape Town where they will meet Kaizer Chiefs at the Newlands Stadium on Saturday 19 July in the first match of their tour. They will then face Orlando Pirates in Durban on July 22 before playing one of the two South Africa sides again at Loftus Stadium four days later.

The tour concludes with a friendly in Abuja, Nigeria, against FA Cup winners Portsmouth on July 27.

If Chris Eagles is amongst the squad flying out to South Africa, this will further dampen speculation that the 22 year old winger is close to signing for the Clarets.

If he does play against the Kaizer Chiefs, I predict a riot even if they spell it with a 'Z'! Sorry couldn't resist!

Latest Update:

The Daily Mirror are now saying that Eagles was pulled off the flight at the last minute for talks with Burnley FC.They now understand only personal terms need to be agreed.

We have been here before with tabloid gossip but at least it still holds out some hope he is on his way.

The Official Manchester United website are so far staying quiet on this issue, only referring today to Owen Hargreaves who also misses out on the South African tour in this case due to injury.
