Matchday Mayhem US Forum Changes Name

Clarets fans on Vital Burnley have been enjoying discussions with our US footy fan posters from Carolina Railhawks, Minnesota Thunder and Richmond Kickers in our Matchday Mayhem US forum during the build up to our US tour and our friendly games out there.

The Clarets played two exhibition friendly games on their US tour. The first last Thursday against the Cary Railhawks U-23 at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. A game which we lost 2-1 despite a spectacular run and goal by Wade Elliott.

However, we had better joy last night against Minnesota Thunder at the National Sports Center in Blaine, defeating the USL side, 2-0 with goals from McCann and Rodriguez.

We have made many friends with US posters in our forum during our US tour and they have filled us in with information about their club and team plus the general situation regarding football (soccer) in the US.

We hope this friendship and debate will continue as the Clarets return home and put their minds to the new season ahead and consider a possible partnership with one of the US clubs.

It is hoped that the Clarets can go into a partnership with a club similar to that recently announced by Stoke City and their new American partner Austin Aztex.

The eventual set-up will hopefully lead to summer training camps in the USA with a view to scouting for local talent and exchanging players between the two clubs.

Before the bridge building of the US Tour was in progress, Burnley chairman Barry Kilby, Operational Director Brendan Flood and Development Director Paul Fletcher together with Assistant Manager Sandy Stewart visited the USA in early June to try and build relationships with US clubs with a view to developing young talent on both sides of the Atlantic.

The process will continue and we await to hear which US club, Burnley FC would like to go into partnership with so plenty still to debate and discuss in our forum.

We will however be changing the name of the US forum to better refelect the situation by dropping the Matchday since we have now completed our games. The forum will now simply be called Mayhem US
but can still be found in the same place.

So then who do you reckon will get the deal? Minnesota Thunder and Carolina Railhawks seem to be the front runners and probably Carolina edge it at the moment purely on the basis of time spent there.
