Burnley X-Files:John Oster gets Rams Trial

Derby gaffer,Paul Jewell, has invited former Claret, John Oster to train with the club.

The 29-year-old midfielder was released by Reading following their relegation last season.

So John Oster now has the chance of impressing Jewell and winning himself a contract with Derby.

Oster started his career with Grimsby Town in 1994 before moving to Everton for £1.5 million in 1997. He was on the move again two years later joining Sunderland in a £1 million deal. He never really impressed for the Black Cats spending periods on loan to Barnsley, Grimsby his former club and Leeds United. Sunderland released Oster in January 2005.

The Welsh International was signed by Burnley during Steve Cotterill's reign in 2005, but the spell was brief and he joined Reading on 2 August 2005.

Never realised his potential for Burnley FC and suggestions were he fell out with the gaffer, demanding too high a price to extend his contract. Another player we rescued from obscurity only to realise nobody is grateful in football anymore
