Eagles could Soar to US and join the Burnley Tour

It is understood Manchester United winger, Chris Eagles was at Turf Moor yesterday for a medical with a view to signing for a deal worth up to £1.5million.

The 22 year old was given permission to speak to the club by Sir Alex Ferguson

If Eagles does sign we will again have beaten our transfer record. This was recently set for Martin Paterson only last month but the Eagles deal looks set to eclipse that by about £200,000.

Another club however are believed to be interested in the player and this could be Derby County according to the LT.

Owen Coyle had this to say shortly before flying to the US on tour yesterday:

'It`s is a bit more complicated, in that there is another club interested in him, but he has real quality,

"We had a terrific meeting with him and his representative, obviously with permission from his club, because there would be a big fee involved in that. "

It is also understood that both Barry Kilby and Brendan Flood are on red alert in the absence of Coyle to hopefully welcome the new player should the medical prove successful.

If that happens, Eagles could be on a flight today to the USA to soon meet up with his new team-mates at their Cary base in North Carolina.

Think you are going to have to MSN message me Martyn in future whether I am online or not and put a note up of your intentions to publish in our admin forum. Not trying to dampen your enthusiasm or anything but duplication has been happening a lot recently so we need to have a system in place

Yeah totally agree dude.

I had heard Leeds were the other club involved. I'm sure Derby could beat us on wages, but they have a lot of new faces at the club and doubt they could guarantee him a regular first team place.

Sounds like a few up for him! United's Official Site have just pur this up: Burnley manager Owen Coyle claims his side are in negotiations with Chris Eagles over a potential transfer to Turf Moor. The 22-year-old winger has found senior opportunities limited since making his debut in October 2003, and hasn't made a first team appearance since last December.Tabloid rumours have suggested that a host of Championship clubs are monitoring his situation, and Clarets boss Coyle admits his side face competition if they are to seal a deal for Eagles.

It's odd for an official site to say "burnley claim they are in discussions", hmm

The BE hinted that Owen Coyle wanted to keep their interest quiet and then promptly revealed it was Eagles lol! Everyone has then jumped on the bandwagon, so I hope the Medical etc is in fact true and we are close to signing him

Bit ominous no announcement today yet, I feel, unless they are waiting for Darren Bentley to do his PR bit from the US

Burnley are lining up a club record bid for Manchester United winger Chris Eagles. (Daily Star-10th July 08)
