Owen Coyle recenly said just before signing Van der Schaaf that he was after another player:
'The other one is a bit more complicated, in that there is another club interested in him, but he has real quality.
'We had a terrific meeting with him and his representative, obviously with permission from his club, because there would be a big fee involved in that.
'So we'll wait and see on that one, but we are certainly trying to bring the right players to the football club, and if we are able to sign both, it would be fantastic news for the football club.'
Speculation has been brewing all day, that the player we could have in mind is winger Chris Eagles from Manchester United. Now the Burnley Express have confirmed their belief that Eagles is our target.
22-year-old Eagles was born in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire and is generally an attacking right-sided winger but he can also play on the left wing.
Eagles came through the youth system at Watford. He then left to join the Manchester United academy at the tender age of 14!
He made his first team debut for the Red Devils in October 2003 coming on as a substitute at Leeds in the League Cup.
He returned to Watford on loan in January 2005.
Sheffield Wednesday then also signed the player on loan for the first half of the 2005-06 season.
Eagles returned to Vicarage Road yet again on loan in January 2006, before agreeing to a spell with Dutch side NEC Nijmegen in August 2006.
Chris Eagles has since struggled to break into the first team squad at Manchester United and could now be set to join the Clarets.
The fee is believed to add up to just over £1.5m in total and would break the previous record transfer deal for Burnley recently set for Martin Paterson.
