Gabs to miss US trip

BURNLEY goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly will miss the club's tour of America after the club slipped up on his work permit, which is needed for the tour.

The Hungarian international stopper is currently transfer listed at Turf Moor, with gaffer Owen Coyle saying that he is willing to listen to offers for the former number one.

Problems obtaining a visa through his country's standing in the European Union has been named as the reason he won't be travelling but it does get you thinking though.

A day earlier the Clarets sign Remco van der Schaaf, meaning a place short on a plane journey maybe? A transfer listed goalkeeper on the plane, when there will be another two of them out there. Who would you kick off the plane? Yeah, exactly.

Whether it is that or not you never know, but poor Gabor will instead train in Burnley with a personal trainer.

Does seem very odd.

I suppose the Club can either get accused now of incompetence or lying Well anyway Coyle is now saying this about the situation: Coyle insists Kiraly will be working hard at Gawthorpe for the duration of the tour, and revealed the first team door would not be closed to the 32-year-old. “Gabor was made available at the end of the season, not transfer-listed as such, but he’s come back and worked hard, and that will continue until he forces his way into the team or someone comes in for him. “The door is open for them all, you never say never in football because sometimes that’s when you see the best from people. “Gabor will be (at Gawthorpe) every day, training with the youth team and his own goalkeeping coach is flying in as well, so he’ll be working hard while we’re away and maintaining his fitness.”

Cynical beggars, but I agree they really have opened themselves up to criticism by this announcement

The club would have known what they were doing, they'd have known who needed permits etc. so for them to say that is stupid.

Like I say, no win situation! If they made a genuine mistake they will be accused of incompetence by some, if they didn't then folk will make up their own mind

There must have been a problem with Berisha too because he did not fly with them and had to go today on his own unless Eagles has gone with him :-)
