New Chief Executive role for Fletcher

DEVELOPMENT Director Paul Fletcher has been appointed as Chief Executive of Burnley F.C. this morning, meaning that the former Claret player will stay with the club beyond the completion of the new look Turf Moor.

Fletcher played for the Clarets back in't day during the 1970s, and originally joined the club last year as Development Director and instantly announced plans for a £30million redevolopment of Turf Moor.

He had also previously been Chief Executive at fellow Championship side Coventry City involved in the building of their new Ricoh Stadium.

It is also the first time Burnley have appointed someone in the role since Dave Edmundson left the club in 2007.

Fletcher told the Official website: 'Over the last 20 years I have been involved with numerous football clubs around the country and I am delighted to use this experience for the benefit of Burnley Football Club.

'In readiness for the new stand development coming on stream in two-years time the club needs to upgrade its services in a number of areas and I am pleased to take on this responsibility, whilst still working in my other important role on the redevelopment of Turf Moor.

'I hope this, in turn, frees time for the Chairman and Brendan Flood to spend more time with the manager on the important player matters.'

He takes the role with immediate effect.

The role as Chief Executive will now see him focus on commercial activities in addition to the Turf Re-development project

He will now oversee Conference, Banqueting, Marketing, Ticket Office Retail and Matchday&Stewarding Departmental activities

Congratulations Paul from all at Vital Burnley

It would seem there is a lot going on at Burnley at the moment. A couple of really decent signings, and this!

Congrats Paul. There is a lot going on and it is exciting although we have had a lot of faulse promises lately. The main thing is that everything being done at the moment is to improve our future. We have been in this league long enough now and all these changes are to protect our long term future, so that when we do push for the Prem, we will be in a strong position to cope.
