'If It's Football, It's Vital'

So it's not Ritchie Jones then!

Hartlepool have completed the signing of midfielder Ritchie Jones on a free transfer.

21-year-old. Jones was released by the Premier League champions at the end of last season.

He had been linked with several clubs in Scotland as well as England, with Tranmere and Hearts mainly believed to be in the running.

The Clarets also were believed to be interested in signing the player and indeed Coyle did trial the player last January whilst Jones was still under contract at Old Trafford.

However, Jones has made the decision to join Hartlepool, much to the delight of their manager Danny Wilson.

Clarets fans wait with anticipation now to find out if any more new faces will be travelling out on our US Tour next week.

It appears Derek Riordan is now off the radar but it is also understood Owen Coyle still hopes to have 2-3 new signings on the books before our first friendly against Carolina Railhawks in the US this Thursday.

Owen Coyle was recenly also quoted as saying the following to the Burnley Express:

'We have put an offer to someone, and we are waiting for them to come back to us.

'But it is certainly not Derek Riordan"

So we know its not him and it's not Jones unless he turned us down. The rumour was we were interested in two Manchester United players, fuelling speculation that Ritchie Jones may have been one of them

Oh well back to the drawing board and the Rumour Mill!!

Well I cant believe we offered this player a deal! Why would anybody prefer to go to League 1 Hartlepool compared to a Championship side? He must surely have got a better salary with us, if not I would worry!!
