Vital Burnley APB: Can you help locate the Proggy?
We have been contacted in our Backchat Burnley forum by Molineux Phil asking for help to find a programme for a match played at Turf Moor between Burnley and Portsmouth on 21st December 1957.
Why you might ask is a Wolves fan seeking a programme involving two other teams? Well the connection is Wolves legend, Derek Dougan.
Phil himself explains:
'I became a big fan of the late former Wolves player Derek Dougan in the early 1960s,after seing him make his League debut for Aston Villa at Goodison Park in the opening fixture of the 61/62 season and followed his career with great interest thereafter especially his time at Wolves.
I was at Uni there between 1967-1970 and saw most of his games while he was at Molineux (So many fond memories).
I started collecting programmes of games The'Doog' played in from that first game at Everton and have all bar two Portsmouth ones including the said Burnley v Portsmouth 21/12/57. Was told I could maybe get help in obtaining the programme through this site'
