Coyle Dampens Riordan Speculation

According to the Sporting Life, Owen Coyle has distanced himself from today's strong reports linking him with a renewed bid for Celtic striker Derek Riordan.

Todays links were as follows:

Aberdeen Radio: Riordan in talks with Championship side Burnley over a possible move to Turf Moor

BBC Sport: Believe Derek Riordan could be a Clarets player before the end of the week. They go on to say that although no new bid has been made an agreement could be reached before Celtic begin pre-season training.

The Edinburgh News: Stated that according to a report this morning Burnley are poised to sign him in a £750,000 deal having last night talked with Celtic.

However,it would appear Owen Coyle has just dashed the hopes of Clarets fans if the Sporting Life article is correct.

They quote Coyle as follows:

'I don't know where it has come from but it's certainly not from anyone at Burnley Football Club.

'It's well-documented I tried to sign him in January but there has been nothing since.'

Very disappointing, now fuelling speculation as to who the other targets must be following the news that Coyle was in negotiations with two parties last night.

The rumour site links us to 2 Man Utd players, so they could be who we were in talks with. I added details in the rumour mill forum.

Be quiet man! :-) Many managers say they are not after players and then sign them. This originated from team talk and was picked up by sporting life and now sky, but team talk never do any work, so there might be no truth in this at all and nothing official is coming out of the club.
