Paterson on First Day Back in Training

The Clarets returned to pre-season training at Gawthorpe yesteday morning on a blistering hot day.

Three of the four new signings were there getting to know their new team mates.

Only Diego Penny was absent and he will link up with the lads during their US tour.

New record signing, striker, Martin Paterson gave a flavour of the first day back:

'Obviously pre-season is going to be tough. I didn't enjoy it but it's all about getting yourself fit. You can tell the lads have got a great spirit already and I've really enjoyed my first day,' he told the club's official website.

'I'm going to work hard, dig in and see how many goals I can get. Everyone here is focused on doing well and that can only be good for someone new like me coming in.

'There are no cliques here, we all get on well and I just want to be a part of it and get involved.'

The pre-season friendlies are now upon us and we kick off with the US tour next week playing Carolina Railhawks on Thursday, 10th July.

A new quote for you there TMP! He says he did not like it and then said he really enjoyed it when talking about his first day of training :-)

The new season seems to have come round pretty quickly this year. Probably with the Euro, but I did not see much of it. Come on you Clarets and get off to a good start. I wonder if we will win a few friendlies this year?!?!

Aye does sound a bit contradictory but I think I know what he means, hates the graft, enjoys the team spirit. Must admit ignored most of Euro 2008 and only really watched the final. At least the one I wanted and predicted to win did!!
