Burnley X-Files: Cole from the Forest?

Andrew Cole is in the Sunday papers rumour mill section again today.

New boys in the Championship, Nottingham Forest are expected to sign the 36 year old striker this week according to the press.

Cole, on loan from Sunderland last season was unable to agree terms with Owen Coyle concerning a possible permanent move to the club. It had been hoped he would sign a one year deal in the dotage of his career and help develop the young guns.

Released by Sunderland and turning down Burnley, he was then linked to Southend having reportedly been offered a player-coach role.

Briefly it was then Norwich who were linked with the striker. Nothing seemed to come of that rumour which is a shame since if the deal had gone ahead it would have been a reporter and editor's dream with headlines like Norris (sorry Norwich) Cole signs!!

It is however newly promoted Nottingham Forest who now appear to be in the driving seat if the rumours are to be believed.
