Kevin McDonald Officially Signs for Burnley

Kevin McDonald, the 19 year old Dundee midfielder has today signed for the Clarets for £500,000 (including add ons and incentives) after Owen Coyle doubled his previous May offer. He has been given a three year contract.

The Carnoustie born Scottish Under 21 International is widely regarded in Scotland and is tipped to be a future full Scotland International. His only professional club to date has been Dundee who he joined in 2005

Dundee manager Alex Rae told the press last month that he would let McDonald leave Dens Park but only if a suitable offer was received. On the same day it was revealed that Dundee had rejected an offer of £250,000 from Burnley but the Clarets flush with money from the Lafferty deal have now doubled their offer to secure his services.

We appear to have done well to secure this deal with a number of high profile SPL and Premier League clubs rumoured to have been interested in the player in recent years

Celtic had an offer of £75,000 turned down in June 2006. Rangers were also linked and Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa have also been reportedly interested in signing the young talented Dundee star.

More recently, we faced competition from Championship rivals Plymouth and Crystal Palace and have come out on top in the battle to sign him.

A really exciting signing for me. Already 100 + games and at 19 must have bags of energy and potential to improve further. These are just the type of players we need. If we ever sell them, we will make big profits. Our team should be full of energy and will be attack minded. All in all I think we are going to be a team that is enjoyable to watch. OC seems dead set on making the Turf a fortress which will bring more fans on and improve the clubs finances. Bring on the new season. Well once we have 5 or 6 more players that is :-)

im a celt and i tell you riordan would be a star for your team ..also darren barr is a good young player aswell ...mc donald was the best player in the first division last year and there was a lot of interest in him from bigger clubs than burnley so i think its a good move by the club and by kev mc donald as he will get better and better and will make yous some cash.

On the interview with ClaretsWorld... "I've never been to Burnley before, I don't know anything about it, this is the first time I've been, I've never even drove past"... hmmm
