Coyle on his New Number 10

Owen Coyle has been speaking about his new signing from Scunthorpe, 21 year old striker Martin Paterson.

The player completed the formality of a medical today and agreed terms after a transfer fee of £1 million was agreed between the two clubs over the weekend. This will become a record transfer fee with the £300,000 add ons agreed based on appearances.

'I am absolutely delighted to have Martin on board at Burnley

'I admired him even when I was managing in Scotland and he was always a prime target of mine this summer

'I am excited to have signed such a young, hungry striker who is keen to score goals and I feel sure he will be a success at Turf Moor'

The Official Site also confirmed that Paterson will wear the number 10 shirt for the 2008-9 season about to begin in August.

Get in there, Owen. The first of many I hope, maybe five this week? ;-)

The poll can be ripped up now :-) August and what signing!!! Whoever voted for them should be ashamed :-) I assume they were passing Rovers fans.

Yeah right... pato! Anyway well done lads, quality signing. He will add to your attacking options. I would of liked to see Ipswich make a bid for him, but hey. Good Luck.

£1m!! Blimey - he's good but not that good. The guys up at Scunthorpe must be laughing. Will score goals but you now need to build a team around him - He's been top dog at Glamford Park for years now so will want the same treatment at Burnley.

All players are overrated these days! I believe there is one philosophy, if you want someone badly enough you will pay over the odds SLIGHTLY or you target will be snatched! Im convinced Norwich & Ipswich may have done that had we not stopped pussyfoooting about and gone for it! There is always an element of risk but now the ball is in Pato's court to prove we did the right deal
turfmanphil
drwatford he's only been there for a season and more or less replaced billy sharp when the mighty blades bought him back to his boyhood beloved club!!
