Kaspars Gorkss-QPR Naughty Boys?

Kaspars Gorkss, understood to be a transfer target by the Clarets last month, was thought to be on his way to QPR but it looks like that deal is dead in the water after alleged illegalities by QPR.

There is now a statement on the Official Blackpool site confirming the situation

'On 17 June, Blackpool Football Club can confirm that it reported Queens Park Rangers to the FA for what it deems to be an illegal approach for defender Kaspars Gorkss.

This matter is now in the hands of the FA.

We currently have no further comment to make.'

Oh dear, so what will happen now? Will the Clarets be back in for the defender? They better tread carefully if they are. It is understood Gorkss has a £250,000 release clause in his contract and that the Clarets may have had such a bid already turned down.

Thanks to tomlaw for spotting this one! Ooh er could we be back in for him? The Crainey link has gone all quiet too

There's about 10 Championship teams chasing him - including Ipswich, Watford, Norwich, Burnley and Palace - by all accounts. Do QPR know no boundaries?

I think we had all given up after QPR looked to have signed him. Wonder what they offered him? (allegedly illegally by looks of it) As far as I can work out, he would be entitled to leave for any club offering a minimum of £250k because of his release clause. Looks like Pool are stuffed either way and they are just prolonging the agony

Not sure how they could have turned us down unless we did not offer 250k. Hard to tell what QPR have done. I only assume they have got the clause information directly from the player or agent and assume they are not allowed to disclose that info. If thats the case, then QPR have done what I believe many clubs do which is to tap players up on the quiet.

As a contracted player QPR should've gone through the club..it's as simple as that. Why the fascination on the Burnley board? I thought you'd all be inconsolable after Lafferty's move!

You must be joking,we have wanted shut of Laffs since he stabbed club, gaffer and fans in the back! Nice little bit of business there. As for Gorkss, we were alleged to have an interest in him but thought QPR had beaten us (and other clubs) to it. If we were/are still interested then this maybe opens up another chance, hence the article. By the way, we were also linked to Crainey, although thats gone quiet. It seems though that Pool have made a right hash of their contracts, half their blessed team appear to be able to leave due to £250k release clauses,Crainey & Gorkss amonst them

I don't want to say too much about it," Blackpool manager Simon Grayson told BBC Radio Lancashire. "But we've got to protect the interests of our club and we're led to believe there's been an illegal approach." Grayson added: "If anybody approachs our club and offers money then that's our decision to give permission to talk to players. It was disappointing while I was away to read that Kaspars has already signed for Queens Park Rangers "But the matter is now in the FA's hands. We like to do our football business in the right way and we feel this hasn't been done." And Grayson revealed his annoyance after QPR released a statement last week admitting they had made an offer for the 26-year-old. "It was disappointing while I was away to read that Kaspars has already signed for Queens Park Rangers. I'd been fully kept up to date that we'd had no official approach. "Everyone does different types of business but it doesn't seem like the correct procedure. "I can't really comment too much more on it because the chairman's now dealing with it, along with the Football League and the FA," he concluded.

We must be doing something right Phil if the Clarets are being linked with moves for our best players! Bit of a sweeping statement to say that half of our team are on £250k release clauses!!!!

Fair enough, maybe it just seems that way. I believe Wes Hoolahan joins Gorkss and Crainey on the release clause list at least and who knows about rest?
