Rumour Mill-Anthony Stokes

Rumour Mill-Anthony Stokes

Burnley have been linked to the 19 year old Black Cats and former Arsenal striker and winger, Anthony Stokes.

The Sun have today reported the link but also suggest we face stiff competition from Celtic. Celtic boss Gordon Strachan is keen to take Anthony Stokes to Parkhead as part of a deal that would see Aiden McGeady go the other way in a record Black Cats player-cash deal for £10 million.

Anthony Stokes is a Dublin born, Republic of Ireland International who in his youth played for Sherbourne.

Stokes started his professional career with Arsenal breaking into the Arsenal reserves when only 15 years old. He made his first-team debut as a substitute in Arsenal's League Cup tie against Sunderland in October 2005.

A spell on loan to Falkirk followed in the first part of the 2006/7 season before returning to Arsenal in December 2006.

Stokes ended weeks of speculation regarding his future by signing for Sunderland for a fee of £2 million in January 2007.

Can't see us winning this one, even if we are interested!

Celtic don't want Stokes so you are in with a good chance of getting him. First Ive heard of him linked with Burnley, think he would do well in the Championship - you after signing him or loaning him?

Unless he wants to stay in England, but Celtic would be a far bigger attraction for him. He scored something like 16 goals in 18 games for Falkirk.

yep, he's all yours. 1, mcgeady won't go to sunderland. 2, he's worth about 13-15m. and 3, celtic have absolutely no interest in stokes.
