Sky Sports News have just reported that Lafferty will be having a medical at Ibrox this afternoon following rumours of an agreed £4 million package.
Radio Clyde in Scotland has also apparantly claimed today that Kyle Lafferty has signed for Glasgow Rangers in a deal that could be worth up to £4 million.
It is believed that Burnley will recieve £3 million upfront with a further £500k based on appearances. The deal also includes Rangers midfielder Alan Gow coming the other way.
This package would equate to £4 million in total, the same valuation put on the player by Burnley FC.
The Daily Mail has also stated that Rangers boss Walter Smith made a £3.5million bid (including Gow) for Lafferty to move ahead of Celtic and Wolves in the bidding war.
They believed gaffer Owen Coyle was now close to accepting the Ibrox package at the expense of their Old Firm rivals.
So there is confusion as to whether the deal has already gone through or not, but we can expect confirmation either way sometime today.
If this is true it will be interesting to see if the money from the deal will be used to secure our other targets in cases where our previous bids have been turned down.
Scunthorpe's Paterson and Heart's Andrew Driver have both put pressure on their clubs by stating they want to leave. Both players have had recent bids by the Clarets turned down.
Celtic striker, Derek Riordan was also believed to be interesting the Clarets and could have been part of the Celtic Lafferty package to bring the out of favour forward to Turf Moor. Will the Clarets now still look to sign the player in a straight cash deal if Lafferty signs for Celtic's Old Firm rivals?
The striker is believed to be rated at £1 million by Gordon Strachan and the Clarets already had a bid of £500,000 turned down back in the January window. Will the club now offer in the region of £500k-£1m for his services and would Celtic accept?
