Fixtures 2008/9 Released: First up ,Owls!

The new fixtures for 2008/9 have just been released and the Clarets will travel to Sheffield Wednesday on the opening day of the season.

The match will be played on Saturday the 9th August 2008 (Kick Off 3pm).

Our first match at Turf Moor will be the week after against Ipswich on August 16th

Clarets fans will be particularly interested in when we play our matches against our local rivals,Preston and Blackpool

The first team we play will be Blackpool at home on Tuesday September 16th and the return encounter will be played at Bloomfield Road on another Tuesday night on the 3rd March 2009.

We will play Preston as follows:

Home: Saturday September 27th

Away: Saturday January 17th

By the end of the season,Clarets fans will be hoping our fate will be sealed, with hopefully that illusive promotion confirmed to the Premier League or at the very least, a play-offs spot. However, if it goes to the wire, our last match of the season will be against Bristol City at home on Sunday 3rd May 2009.

Apart from Palace away, I think we can get off to a flyer in the first 2 months depending on what squad we have :-) We will need a good points return as October is a tough one. Only just missed out on playing Swansea away on my wedding day thankfully, but bad news for friends is that they will have to come here for my wedding and then back to Swansea again a week later. Unlucky :-)

Disappointed from a Blackpool point of view that the games with you lot are on Tuesday evenings. Bit strange really but then again, that could always change.

Aye, would have been good to have at least one match on a Saturday between us. Wonder if there is a reason or whether its just sods law?
